“USC strives to provide an environment where dual-career couples can meet their professional objectives while striking a balance between family life and career demands. Doing so is important to USC’s success in building and nurturing an outstanding faculty.”–C. L. Max Nikias, President Emeritus
In order to create and retain outstanding faculty, USC recognizes and actively supports the needs of dual career spouses and partners. We understand that a dual career partner’s ability to find suitable employment is often a key factor in the recruitment process and the couple’s decision to choose USC as their professional home.
To initiate support for a spousal or partner hire, prospective faculty should discuss this objective with the search committee chair, the department chair, or dean. You may also contact Debbie Jones, Dual Career Consultant, to confidentially address questions and concerns. Ms. Jones, who is in the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, supports deans, deans of faculty, and prospective faculty in efforts to promote academic and non-academic employment opportunities between schools, within the university at large, as well as in local colleges and universities. Job placement services may also be offered to the spouse or partner by the hiring department or school. Please note however, these efforts do not guarantee employment nor job placement.
Debbie Jones may be reached at (213) 740-7641 or jonesdeb@usc.edu. All conversations and inquiries are confidential. Job posting information for USC and local academic institutions may be provided upon request.
