USC School of Architecture
I see them in suits and ties and professional business attire on the streets of Los Angeles, catch images of their architecture work in magazines, and run into them at academic conferences. I try to remember “how did he do on homework 3?,” “was my advice to go back to school for a PhD the correct path for her?” and the admonition that I gave that “yes, you MUST find time to submit that paper to a journal” actually did work out. I hope that the guidance I give them is applicable to their lives, and my overreaching goal is to inspire them to do their best work.
I recognize that I played only a small role in shaping them. And for me, the most rewarding aspect of teaching and mentoring is witnessing the transformation of my students as they become my colleagues.
