USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
I work with a variety of students, but I feel a responsibility to mentor diversity and first-generation college students in order to make academia accessible. I work individually with students to help them acquire the social and cultural capital that is required to navigate what can be an intimidating academic labyrinth and to provide them with access to research activities and opportunities that will help them to become leaders and succeed within and beyond the university.
It is extremely rewarding to mentor students who will be tomorrow’s leaders and global citizens. My mentees have taught me more than I have taught them and I try to inspire my students to carry forward a tradition of mentoring to the next generation.
