Whether it is for the guidance of students or faculty colleagues, a mentor program is the clearest possible message we can send, as a school, as a division, that we care about the people who share our community.

A mentor program provides a safety net, a forum for non-judgmental discussion and advice, and a resource for the solution of the problems that inevitably arise in an academic institution. It’s a two-way street; the mentee usually benefits from the interaction to a similar degree and learns valuable lessons and perspective about the learning environment.

A successful mentor program will significantly and demonstrably enhance the morale of the whole community it was created to serve.
